General Physiotherapy

Assessment & Treatment

Physiotherapy assessment and treatment focus on restoring function, reducing pain, and improving mobility and overall well-being. Each session begins with a comprehensive assessment that includes a detailed health history, discussion of symptoms, and a physical examination. Physiotherapists use a variety of evidence-based tools and techniques to evaluate posture, joint mobility, muscle strength, flexibility, movement patterns, and functional performance.

Assessment tools may include:

  • Goniometry to measure range of motion

  • Manual muscle testing

  • Functional movement screening

  • Special orthopedic tests

  • Pain and outcome questionnaires (e.g. VAS, Oswestry, DASH)

Based on the findings, a personalized treatment plan is developed. This may include:

  • Manual therapy: hands-on techniques such as joint mobilizations, soft tissue release, myofascial techniques, and trigger point therapy to restore mobility and reduce pain.

  • Therapeutic exercise: a tailored program of stretching, strengthening, motor control, and functional exercises designed to improve movement patterns and prevent recurrence.

  • Education and self-management: guidance on posture, body mechanics, activity modification, and injury prevention strategies.

  • Modalities as appropriate: such as dry needling, ultrasound, TENS, or heat/cold therapy to support recovery.

The goal of physiotherapy is not only to treat the current condition but also to empower individuals with the tools and knowledge they need to take an active role in their long-term health and recovery.
