Running Assessment
A Running Assessment performed by a physiotherapist is a comprehensive evaluation designed to analyze your running technique, biomechanics, and physical condition to identify factors that may contribute to pain, injury, or performance limitations.
What the Assessment Includes:
- Initial Consultation & History Taking
- Discussion of running history, training volume, injury history, and goals
- Review of footwear and terrain preferences
- Physical Examination
- Assessment of joint mobility, muscle flexibility, strength, and core stability
- Postural analysis and functional movement screening
- Video Gait Analysis
- Slow-motion video capture of your running from multiple angles (usually on a treadmill)
- Evaluation of stride length, foot strike pattern, cadence, pelvic and trunk control, arm swing, and overall running mechanics
- Footwear Assessment
- Review of your current running shoes
- Recommendations for appropriate footwear or orthotics if needed
- Findings & Recommendations
- Identification of biomechanical inefficiencies or imbalances
- Tailored exercise program to address weaknesses, improve technique, and prevent injuries
- Running cues or drills to enhance form and performance
