Carol started working in Canmore as an orthopedic physiotherapist in 1995. She has completed the highest level of certification in the Canadian Orthopedic certification program (FCAMT) which qualifies her for spinal and peripheral joint mobilization and manipulation. She is also qualified in Neuroanatomical Acupuncture (CAFCI) and Gunn IMS needling. Carol has extensive experience with concussions and has completed multiple courses discussing the most current research on concussion assessment and management including treatment of the cervical spine after concussion and vestibular assessment and treatment. Carol is trained to assess for custom orthotics using a digital scanner technique. She works closely with our orthotist, Alex Paquin from Peak Orthotics to develop the best foot support to keep you moving in the mountains.
As an Olympian in Cross Country Skiing, Carol brings a strong background of athletic experience to the clinic. She has utilized this experience to work with elite athletes in the role of team therapist for Cross-Country and Biathlon National teams. Highlighting this time period was her role as team therapist for the Olympic Biathlon team at the 2010 Games in Vancouver. This work involved collaborating with medical and coaching teams to help athletes prevent injuries, optimize performance and return athletes back to their sport after injury as quickly as possible. Carol’s mission statement as a therapist is to “Help people help themselves”.
