Craniosacral Therapy
Gentle, Restorative Therapy for the Nervous System
At One Wellness, select physiotherapists offer Craniosacral Therapy (CST) as a gentle, hands-on approach that helps release tension in the body, calm the nervous system, and promote overall well-being. This subtle but powerful technique supports the body’s natural healing processes and is especially beneficial for clients experiencing stress, chronic pain, or unresolved physical and emotional tension.
What is Craniosacral Therapy?
Craniosacral Therapy involves light touch—typically no more than the weight of a nickel—applied to various points on the head, spine, and sacrum. This technique works with the craniosacral system, which includes the membranes and fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord. By facilitating balance and flow in this system, CST can help release deep restrictions and support the body in restoring optimal function.
How It’s Used
CST is offered as a complementary modality within select physiotherapy sessions when indicated. It is ideal for clients seeking a more holistic or restorative approach to healing, particularly when traditional hands-on therapies may feel too intense or overstimulating.

What to Expect
During a session, you will lie comfortably while your physiotherapist uses gentle, sustained holds to assess and treat areas of tension or imbalance. Many clients find CST deeply relaxing, and it’s not uncommon to experience a sense of release, emotional clarity, or improved energy in the hours or days following treatment.
Is Craniosacral Therapy Right for You?
Craniosacral Therapy is well-suited for individuals who are sensitive to deeper manual techniques or who are dealing with complex, chronic, or stress-related concerns. Your physiotherapist will determine whether CST is appropriate for your goals and incorporate it into your broader physiotherapy plan as needed.
