Dr. Connie Lebrun is a Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Alberta and a Sport and Exercise Medicine physician at MacEwan University Health Centre. Her clinical practice focuses on the assessment and management of musculoskeletal and medical concerns in physically active individuals.
Dr. Lebrun completed her medical degree at McGill University, followed by a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Allan McGavin Sports Medicine Clinic and a Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology from the University of British Columbia. Her academic and research interests include the health of active girls and women, Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (RED-S), reproductive hormones and athletic performance, and return-to-play considerations, particularly concussion in sport.
A former member of the Canadian Women’s Volleyball Team, Dr. Lebrun competed at the 1976 Montreal Olympics, two World Student Games, and the 1975 Pan-American Games. She has also served on the Canadian Medical Team at seven Olympic Games and held leadership roles including Chief Doctor at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. She previously served as Medical Director for the Canadian Snowboard Federation and is currently Lead Physician for Team Canada Women’s Sitting Volleyball.
Dr. Lebrun remains actively involved in concussion and sports medicine research and is committed to providing evidence-based care to athletes and active individuals.
